Formed in 2000 Crofton Consulting is an award-winning SME firm of consulting engineers with offices in London and Kent offering Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering and MEP Engineering (mechanical, electrical, and public health) consultancy to the built environment.
We are often asked what is a consulting engineer and what does he do? The Association for Consulting Engineers (The Association for Consultancy and Engineering since 2004) defines the role as a firm who devotes themselves to providing impartial advice on engineering matters or to designing and supervising the construction of engineering works; with no commercial or manufacturing interest which might influence the exercise of independence, Taylor 1971.
The provision of independent professional advice is fundamental to our mission of having a positive impact on the communities that we touch through our work and on the people we employ. The firm is a national group member of the Technical Apprenticeship Consortium, an employer lead group of consulting engineering firms employing circa 1,500 apprentices a year throughout the UK and promote lifelong learning for all our teams through formal academic study, short courses, CPDs and subscriptions to dedicated AEC learning platforms.
We have structured our teams to ensure that all projects big or small have the direct engagement of a director from inception to completion and have adopted a design to screen workflow to improve design co-ordination and speed of delivery. All our engineers are fluent in both AutoCAD 2D drawing and REVIT data rich modelling techniques which is supported by our inhouse digital development team that constantly work to improve the quality and automate production freeing up valuable cognitive time for our engineers to allow them to think of the most effective solutions for our clients.
